Morning friends,
A little over a year into our tenure, I’m excited to share that Kanahoma is expanding, as today we’re launching our latest venture - Kanahoma Casting.
What Is Kanahoma Casting?
Kanahoma Casting is the industry’s first - and only - full-service solution for sourcing and celebrating real student and alumni stories.
We connect with your students and alumni on your behalf, casting, engaging, and vetting the very best stories from your community, delivering to you a digital casting book that features student and alumni profiles ready for use across your marketing efforts.
Why Are We Doing It?
Everyone knows that real stories make great marketing, but few teams have the time it takes to source them. That’s the problem we’re setting out to solve with Kanahoma Casting.
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the pleasure of casting over 1,000 students and alumni for a wide variety of organizations, starting with SNHU’s first bus tour campaign back in 2013.
Along the way, I’ve learned that authenticity makes great advertising, but it’s also incredibly labor intensive to produce.
That’s why we’re bringing the casting process we’ve perfected to market, allowing organizations like yours to focus on telling great stories, rather than spending all your time sourcing them.
How It Works
Interested in how the process works, what gets delivered, and what it costs?
Here’s a quick deck that breaks all that out:
Why Now
When I set out to found Kanahoma, I really believed there was room in market to create a better agency for education. One aspect of that meant trying to identify and solve for marketing pain points that were previously left unaddressed.
Top of that list, for me, was always sourcing great student and alumni stories for use across marketing.
As an industry, we are all-too-often reactionary, waiting for the great stories to come to us. But what I’ve learned over the years is that our best brand stories aren’t always the loudest.
That’s what this process is designed to solve for. It’s complex, comprehensive, but above all effective. It is (I believe) the kind of tool that can unlock a marketing team’s productivity and free them up to do truly great work.
Additional Context
I’ve long been a believer in the build-in-the-open movement, so for the sake of this newsletter, I don’t mind sharing a few additional inside-baseball aspects of this launch:
While we’re launching as a full-service solution, it’s our aspiration to reinvest proceeds from the product into the development of a self-service software solution (launching late 2022 or early 2023).
The introduction of the software solution will mark Kanahoma’s evolution from a service business to a tech-enabled service business, a key component of our long-term growth strategy.
Final Words
Finally, I just want to thank you all for your continued friendship and support. When I launched Kanahoma late last year, I was overwhelmed at the outpouring of support, and so many of you have played a critical role in our success to date.
While today marks another natural evolution in our growth, I’m confident we wouldn’t be here without the contributions of many of you.
Here’s to hoping this is a solution that not only serves institutions, but also celebrates students.
There’s nothing better than that.
Editor’s Note
Today marks the first of two major announcements coming from Kanahoma this month. Please stay tuned for more to come in just a couple weeks.
In the meantime, if you think Kanahoma Casting may be a solution for you or your institution, please don’t hesitate to contact us, as we’d love the chance to chat.
